Arm's reach baby crib
If your baby is in a crib it
should conform to the latest safety standards. The crib should not be placed in
a draughty position, or close to a heater. All hanging cords, curtains and
other hanging items should be kept away from the crib. If your baby is in a
separate room in a crib you may use a good reliable monitoring system and apnea
alarm.
Should the baby sleep on its back or
tummy?
Baby should sleep on its back because sleeping on tummy is associated
with a greater risk of sudden infant cot death.
Should I allow visitors when my baby gets home?
When your baby gets home there will be
many well meaning people who want to come and visit. Some things to keep in
mind are:
- People
with colds or the flu will have to visit at a later date.
- Your
baby may be more sensitive to stimulation and may do better if not held by
many persons or only held for a limited time by one person.
- You
can limit the number of people who visit at one time and limit the amount
of time they visit.
- Don't
let people drink hot liquids or smoke and hold the baby at the same time.
